The 3rd ESIL biennial conference was held in Heidelberg, Germany, on 4-6 September 2008 and was widely agreed to be an outstanding success. More than 350 participants from all over Europe and indeed from all over the world met to discuss the topic of 'INTERNATIONAL LAW IN A HETEROGENEOUS WORLD'; the subject was considered in a total of 15 panels, two keynote speeches and one concluding round table.
